What is the difference between an anode and a cathode?

• Anode → where electrons go out and oxidation happens.
• Cathode → where electrons come in and reduction happens.

Think:

• Anode = gives away electrons
• Cathode = takes electrons

In a battery:

• Anode is usually negative
• Cathode is usually positive
