What is an isomer?

An isomer is a compound that has the same molecular formula as another compound but a different arrangement of atoms.

This difference in arrangement can give isomers different physical and chemical properties, even though they contain the same types and numbers of atoms.

Example: Butane and isobutane both have the formula C₄H₁₀, but their atoms are connected differently, making them isomers.
